First up, you don't need a high spec computer, almost anything goes. Do you have an old computer gathering dust?
Next you need a camera for which there are three basic types. The simplest cameras plug into a USB port but their biggest drawback is cable length. The second way (preferred) is to fit a TV / video card to your computer. They are inexpensive and their clear advantage is cable length and quality. Your third option is to use a network camera, these connect wirelessly to your router but will require specialist "driver" software.
Internet access is needed of course but the good news is that your broadband usage for the camera will be consistent regardless of how many viewers you have. This is because Luton Live and Ustream take care of the distribution.
Ustream TV makes it quick, easy and free for you to broadcast. Sign into your Ustream account, click on "Your Shows", click on "Broadcast Now" - job done! Finally, to get your camera on Luton Live, copy the embed code from Ustream and send it to me, I'll do the rest.
